"In our search to obtain relief from the stresses of life, may we earnestly seek ways to simplify our lives. May we comply with the inspired counsel and direction the Lord has given us in the great plan of happiness. May we be worthy to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost and follow the guidance of the Spirit as we navigate this mortal journey. May we prepare ourselves to accomplish the ultimate purpose of this mortal test- to return and live with our Heavenly Father."

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Here's what we've been up to...
First of all...my baby turned 7 months old on the 12th! Can you believe it?!? He is definitely showing signs of growing up. He rolls over all the time now, he can almost sit up by himself. He loves to grab EVERYTHING that is put in front of him. He loves to watch and laugh at Carly and Carly loves the attention. He has a MAJOR temper. I didn't realize babies could have such bad tempers. Don't be deceived by his sparkling blue eyes, when this kid gets mad he wants to let the whole neighborhood know! Lets just say I am not looking forward to his terrible two's!
Christmas Craft
I've decided to make it a tradition to have the kids paint/make their own ornament. This year was the first year since Carly is old enough now to actually get the idea of painting. It may look tacky having all these homemade ornaments on our tree but it will definitely be worth the memories! Carly had so much fun painting and decorating her ornament. She loves painting so much that it didn't stop when the ornament was all finished. :)

Oh Christmas Tree
We finally decided to go out and get a Christmas tree. We kept debating on whether or not to get one this year because a.)we were too lazy b.)we didn't want to spend the money and c.) we didn't want to try and keep Carly away from the tree every second of the day. But we broke down and picked one up on Saturday. Carly liked helping hang the ornaments and the "jingle bells" (which is her new favorite song by the way) Sam loves to just stare at the lights.

Gingerbread House
Tonight was the night we made a gingerbread house. I bought the kit on Friday but haven't had the time to do it until tonight. Carly thought she was in heaven! I was letting her play with Candy. She had more fun eating the candy and breaking the candy canes then she did decorating. The picture below is not staged by the way. She actually took a bite of the house? I seriously have never seen her so excited about something!

So I have to say I love the pic of Carly taking a bite out of the gingerbread house! She is a smart girl, she doesn't mess around. Why eat just a piece of candy when you can eat the candy, frosting, and cookie?

Sam looks different than he did last month! He needs to just stop growing so fast!
Like the idea of homemade ornaments are they made of paper? I should try that the kiddos would like it.
I am glad you decided to buy a tree...where would Santa put the presents?
Raylie also took a bit of the gingerbread house...they must be related :)

Definitely not tacky to have homemade ornaments. That will be so fun in the years to come. Make sure you write the year on each one. That's a mistake I've made before. Miss you guys!

Des-I made sure to write the name and year
Brittany- they are made of ceramic. Hobby Lobby has a ton of different shaped ornaments to choose from.

I am loving the idea of a home made ornament each year and I'm totally stealing it & doing it tonight! Your such a good Mom!

And cute pictures of the family!

Andi has your old family picture that she's been carrying around the last couple weeks in her purse, the other day I saw it and I can't believe how big Carly is and how much your two kiddo's look a so much alike!
