"In our search to obtain relief from the stresses of life, may we earnestly seek ways to simplify our lives. May we comply with the inspired counsel and direction the Lord has given us in the great plan of happiness. May we be worthy to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost and follow the guidance of the Spirit as we navigate this mortal journey. May we prepare ourselves to accomplish the ultimate purpose of this mortal test- to return and live with our Heavenly Father."

The Zoo

So, I don't know what it is about our luck but we always choose the worst days to go places. We got to the zoo only to see a ton of school buses pulling in. Of all the days we chose a school day! It actually turned out to be not as bad as what I thought. Carly and Sam didn't really notice the crowd. I think they enjoyed it. Carly liked the giraffes and the orangutans. Sam just liked being outside I think. It was a fun day!

Taking a cotton candy break.

After to zoo it was still pretty warm out so we decided to let the kids play around in the water. It's times like this when I really miss our pool! :(

coulda woulda shoulda

I don't know what it is about Spring this year but it has really got me reminiscing about my Grandpa (passed away last summer) I guess maybe it's because I bought flowers the other day to plant in our front flower bed and I couldn't' help but think about those many times when we could go out to his greenhouse and pick any flower I wanted to take home with me. (Of course, It didn't stay alive very long.) I can't help but be sad at how much I could have learned from him about gardening and flowers. All my life I can remember his greenhouse full of flowers. I loved going out there and feel the warmth of the greenhouse, feeling like I was somewhere tropical. I loved looking forward to those times where we could eat fresh cucumbers, green peppers and peas straight from his garden. I feel optimistic that maybe someday I can have a garden as great as his was and maybe, just maybe grow flowers like he did. Until then, I have these pictures to enjoy!

let's go fly a kite.....

and take lots of cute pictures amongst the blue bonnets....
We had a fun outing today with my sister-in-laws. We drove to Chappel Hill (a cute little town that I love and I wish I could live just because it's so cute!) We ate lunch and then drove to this fabulous field full of blue bonnets. Alycia and her boys brought kites that were a big hit because they actually flew!! Carly and Sam (and I) had so much fun, we may take another trip out there!

Sam and Myreel (they're about a week apart in age) so much fun!

new toy

We got this little 4-wheeler a while ago and the kids absolutely LOVE it! WE have a tons of wooded area behind our house so the past 2 weekends Chad has been working on learing trails through it and the kids LOVE riding back there. This past weekend Chad started to let Carly drive it by herself. SHe is a natural! She loves it and would ride it all day long if we'd let her. *there is always someone riding with her

strawberry pickin'

We went and picked strawberries today at Kings Orchard. It was the perfect day to go, it was still a little chilly outside so the strawberries weren't baking in the sun and heat. The kids had fun and there were so many strawberries to choose from that we picked 5 pounds of strawberries in about 20 minutes. It was great and the kids LOVED it too!

* You're not suppose to eat the strawberries while your picking but have you ever tried to tell an almost 2 year old he can't eat those red, delicious strawberries that are right at his fingertips? I gave up after telling him no the 5th time.

Carly did a pretty good job at picking the reddest, biggest strawberries she could find and she only snuck eating one or two.

Easter

We had fun this year! On Saturday we had an Easter egg hunt at Mimi and PeePaw's house. There was a lot of kids so it was really fun! It's always great to get the whole family together! There was a ton of good food and a birthday party! Carly and Sam had fun hunting for eggs. Carly loaded up her basket full of eggs. Sam got the idea of it pretty quick!

On Sunday we watched conference and had some friends and family over for a really great lunch, again, lots of good food! I love this time of year!

sleeping and possums

So, the past couple weeks (ever since he's mastered climbing out of his crib) at night when we check on Sam we usually have to pick him up from the floor in front of his door (there are times where we can't even open the door because he's fallen asleep right in front of it) and put him back in his crib. The other night Chad when to check on him. He opened the door and Sam wasn't on the floor, he wasn't in his bed. Chad finally realized he'd upgraded and fallen asleep on his rocking chair. It's so funny to us because Carly never did stuff like this. She would always stay in her bed. He is one funny guy even in his sleep!
One of our nightly visitors. Skipper thinks he's so tough!
